Photographer’s Note
At Bet Giyorgis
A friendly priest at the Bet Giyorgis rock-hewn monolithic church in Lalibela.
I managed to have a good conversation with this chap, thanks to an English-speaking boy who appeared out of nowhere and translated for us. It's always great when those barriers to communication break down...

Great face, great smile. Good choice of black & white with the rocky background. textures are excellent.

somehow the central-horizontal portraits rarely ever work but i found that with the d700 this type of photos come naturally... don't you have the same feelings, ben?
i think - i'd crop a bit atop and include more of the man's body at the bottom, myself...
best, j.
