Photographer’s Note
gratitude...
solidarity nocolors noborders...
today I present a photo from my first mission in Guine-Bissau,1991,at Lugadjole,a small village in the East, close to the boarder with Guine Conacri,100 kms to the next village, next doctor,Gabu,150 kms to the next surgeon,Bafatá.
The distances are correct but to do that was always uncertain.
Tradicional power lives close to the state power and is the main source of decision at the tradicional villages, the old man (o homem grande).
In the photo the old man near the door offers me a cock by the hands of the traditional healer.
At the time Guine-Bissau presents a life expectancy of 45 years, about 50% infantile mortality, and malnutrition,12% of severe malnutrion, and something like 1 doctor to 82500 habitants (out of Bissau - the capital).
...gratitude is my feeling about this beautiful people

The photo has certainly a whole bunch of 'the technicalities', but...
The power of being 'in' the action... Of being familiar with them.. Helping them....
That's a powerful plus in your presentation...
Bless your work, man ..

Olá José
Esta seria um pouco difícil de entender sem a nota. Em conjunto com a nota explicativa está um interessante documento.
Um abraço,
