Photographer’s Note
Last April I traveled to central Togo with a group of friends to work on a humanitarian project; which consisted of building a library in a small village, about 3 hours out of the capital of Lomé, and embellish and furnish it.
It took us 15 days to complete this task, doing chores that ranged from transporting cement blocks across the work field, to labeling each of the books, whilst enjoying the customs and traditions of the village and its community. Our last day in the village was marked by the inauguration of the building, where, a few meters away from me, sat these four ladies. The colours of their “pagnes” (local dresses) struck me immediately, and the way they sat, each facing a different way pushed me to capture this.

Hi Catherine,
I like this hot, firstly it is so colourful and secondly I like that amongst the crowd you have the glance of the lady and the child in your direction. Would be interesting to know a bit more about the shot, like was it at an event of sorts that these people were gathering?
Regards
Wanda
