Photographer’s Note
In spite of the "economic tsunami" as they call it here, Hong Kong's malls seem as busy as ever, and with the banks of excalators, an excellent opportunity to practise panning.

Hi Richard,
Love this capture, great motion of all but two people, caught in a sweet spot. Really an interesting image.
I know what you mean about the "economic tsunami" - I see the same thing here in the USA. Everyday looks like Christmas did at the stores. The people working in the stores say they just aren't spending as much money. I know I spend just as much as ever!
Thanks for sharing,

Hi Richard
Surely this shot needs clicking in to appreciate it. (Thumbnail looks completely chaotic and uninviting).
I wouldn't mind sharper, frozen faces in the case of the two "panned" in the background, but I like the rushy feeling, and the two seem to be closed in time.
Regards

Perhaps we should arrange to go out for a drink on your 1,000th post!! I can't believe we haven't seen each other for so long!!
Do you know that the Format festival is on again in Derby? http://www.formatfestival.com/
Anyway back to this image - I was arrested by it on opening it and was then surprised to find your name to it.......ah ha! It is a very striking take, very illustrative, creative and a great idea....it doesn't quite come off the whole way for me because of the slight lack of sharpness/stillness on the two women in the background ...and maybe just possibly a little further advanced into the gap - but the overall feel of it and the power and relevance of your experiment is just great - have you see Jerzy's pic of the mexican dancer?
take care Rick - still looking forward to that elusive pint!
