Photographer’s Note

Qutb Minar is a 72.5 m tall tower outside Delhi. It is the world tallest stone and brick minaret, and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The first Muslim ruler of India started construction in 1193 after defeating a Hindu king. Construction was completed two centuries later in 1386. It is amazing that the structure still stands. Its size and ornamentation of is impressive.

This picture shows just the first story (out of five) and the first balcony. Since the minaret is a little tilted, it is not longer possible to climb it.
