Surprise and Fear Photo

Photographer’s Note

I just returned from my short trek in Kullu Valley. It was nice and pretty cold weather with lots of clouds and fog. This was pretty much my first attempt with people photography in India. I took this photo while the bus that i was travelling in passed close to the other bus. The buses were passing very slowly and closely from each other and I grabbed my camera and tried to capture this penetrating look of surprise and fear.

India is a fabulous place for people photography, many time people thank me for taking thier photos and ofcourse I thank them too. So there is always a lot of "Shukariya" around after I take thier photos. I am definitely not shy anymore while taking photos of people in india, I feel at ease with them. For people who have inhibitions for people photography, I have three words; "Come to India".

BTW, so far I have been very impressed with the quick motor of 30D, its a fabulous machine. (eventhough I could not get right focus on this photo)

It is really very unfortunate that your main subject matter a little bit out of focus. Yet you captured the mood of the girl very well.

Olá Sarju,
Nice to know from you, after returning the first mountain training trek. I like this experience of people and definately should go to India. Yes, the focus is in the bus and not her, but the result is still good and I like the framing and the tiltness of the composition that works with the spirit of the traveller in a city - chaos, stress, rush and a lot of urban expressions happening all the time. Her pose and expression is great.
Give us more, mate.

Yeah,she has the right expression,maybe it was seeing you!:)
Not an easy one,you had to act fast and the camera made its focus in the center,so in the back,but the moment's impression is there.
Like the 20D,the 30D is fast and always ready.no waiting time.

nice picture, the focus seems to be on the yellow area and the person in the back and the girl is blurred, nevertheless a good people shot. I am looking very forward to seeing more portraits that you have taken.
