Photographer’s Note
A small Art Gallery near Prospekt Mira metro station in Moscow.
The photo was taken with my cell phone camera late in the afternoon.
---------------------------------------------------
Do TE owners want us to post photos like this?
No problem.
Here is another example!
I'm far too upset by the current situation on TE, with members leaving the site and deleting all their galleries.
Who's going to be the next?
Maybe myself. I'll think it over while I am away for a few days on business.
I'll come back by Monday. What will I see on TE when I return?
If I have the time and opportunity I will check the forum and, if my internet connection permits, reply some of the critiques.
I apologize to those of my TE friends whose recently posted photos I have not seen yet, and to those whose critiques I have not replied yet! I will do so after I return... if you are still here...
So far, I've been too upset to do anything.

Bonjour Elena
je cherche à comprendre le sens de ta note et comme mon anglais laisse à désirer il y a certain expressions qui m'échappent, j'ose espérer que tu vas rester avec nous car j'aime bien tes clichés.

Hi Elena,
Point taken! But I guess I will remain for a while, now that I feel like I have found a lot of new friends here on TE. There are of course other sites like http://www.locr.com and http://www.flickr.com/groups/898383@N21/. Still I think TE is one of the better choises and pictures are already being stolen from TE. I have found one of my own in an advertisment for a travel agency!
However, this is quite a fine photo if you ignore the text across!
Kind regards and see you later!
Gunnar

Elena,
I see you are upset about this matter... I've been absent from Te for a month and I didn't know anything of what was happening... now I just read few things here and there but I cannot have a clear idea of the issue, is there a sure evidence that they sold any of our photos?
Anyway I'd reccomend you not to take a so drastic decision in a hurry, just take your time untill things are clearer or settle down...
I wanted to say goodbye to you because I'm taking a pause in TE activity - as last year I'll spend most of the summer months on board of my sailing boat and come back home only once in a while. I think to resume my partecipation in TE next Autumn.
Have a nice summer holidays,
Donato

Hi Elena,
I understand that you feel upset. I guess many of us have had pictures stolen and used by other. I guess the only way is to keep you best pictures for yourself and never post them on TE.
I really like your photo. It is taken in very good lighting and your positioning of the car is really great. I really hope you will not quit TE. Even if you might be more careful with your own you could always enjoy other members’ photos. Have nice evening!
Friendly regards,
Ulf

Bonjour Elena,
Today, we ask all the same questions about TE and we hope that one or several TE's photographers are able to create a new TE as the one that we loved.
Cheers

Hello Elena,
A very fine photo with lots of details.
I have also been away from TE for a few weeks, to be perfectly honest, I do not like so many points of this format now.
It was a great photo sight, easy and simple to use, find members that you made comments to.
I was looking for my friend Rumatte, Moscow, now not so easy.
They had a good sight now it is not friendly at all.
I have enjoyed looking at all your photos over qute some time now.
With kind regards to you,
Robert

dear Elena,
I'm astonished at your seal on your picture, it is very sad...
of course I dislike any steel or commercial use of our photos, those are never our goal, and our photography must be for only our good life.
but actually there are many bad people and they always spoil our good will...it is very pity.
now even arts are in commercial world, the money controls the arts, and photography too. so I think we must not persist in our "copyright". if lots of or enough art works and photo works would fill the world, it may not need to steal. perhaps this is rather optimistic...
(my photos are always free for use)
anyway, this is a suggestive work of photo and your seal must be thought as a part of the lens.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hello Elena,
I agree with Donato, that we should not make too quick decisions, but instead wait and see what is the truth in this "copyright" issue. We also must remember that it is possible to steal photos from almost every photo site with one method or other. If IB wants to do that and has wanted to do it, they could have done it already since they acquired TE. So why hurry now, just because of that suspicious TOU section, which has changed back and forth a couple of times?
I need some evidence, before I start to act, because I see that TOU sentence related to the copyright issue as such a law jargon, that one cannot draw conclusions solely based on it.
Your photo is very good to be taken with a cell phone! A good balanced composition, beautiful light and good clarity.
Warm regards,
Lasse

Hi, Helen,
Ну а за что это удалять? Пиксельтеррор также делал, только красным и так же вопрошал. Вон, люд собрался и все галдят на заданную тему :)))
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Elena,
I don't understand very well, I don't knew the one to put copyright of that form in photos, I have seen in several members of TE, that puts in their texts and they have their copyright, to case, Have seen in other pages photos of this page? without they are those that the owners published...
Your photo is great. with the gallery and the car… I will wait your answer.
A big hug,
Elena

Hello my dear Elena
Unique object, complete framework and moderate exposure. By the way this is a good and compromisable idea. I can support your idea.
Thanks for sharing and best regards,

Dear Elena:
The photo is a beautiful composition. These paintings decorating the stairs, are the essence of the shot.
But two things I do not like:
- The person on the left side, which was not complete.
- The copyright mark cross, although in this case, its your right to protect your intellectual property.
Good frame, no doubt. A strong hug from Colombia, John

Dear Elena
good illustration of the present situation here on this community.
At the moment i'm calm in the boat until it stops blowing.
then I follow the herd of old timers where ever they go.
don't really care so much about the images i've posted but I care about the humans the network we've been building, that's what makes we sorrow

hi Elena
No cause to feel upset, it is just a setback of copyright issue and some soul searching to do for what direction to go. I support your idea of this post and it does speak volume on the problem. A good way to convey a message across. Perhaps more effective visual than writing words in the forum.
I am tempted to post 250pixel with copyright across it :) what can 250pixel photo worth even if IB wants to sell for profit?
This photo itself is great quality and a superb capture of the architecture facade and the photos displayed.
I appreciate this post and your heart in this matter.

Hi Elena,
I have seen this happened in TL and TN before and there are many very good members left the site and setting up their own. I hope TE won't be in the same fate.
Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend.

bonsoir Elena,
bravo
bonne week end

Hello Elena,
I agree with Anders that the core value of TE is and always has been the network -- the community/family/friendships it has encouraged the members to develop and nurture and the sharing of knowledge, insights and technical know-how it has supported. No other site can offer anything similar and it is worth staying with TE for that reason.
We all know that the casual theft of intellectual property is a risk on any site and in all media. We all need to be vigilant and challenge theft when we see it. The size we post at offers some protection with respect to images, although not against possible use in travel brochures and the like. For that reason, those who care about attribution should, as many do, sign photos. Protection against theft of notes (also intellectual property) isn’t so easy. I recognized a TE member’s words on a web-based travel site. When I checked, I found that the note had been reproduced verbatim. When any of us comes across these things we need both to confront the culprit and alert IB.
Intentional profiteering is another matter entirely. If anyone has good cause to suspect the intentional sale of images, IB should be challenged and threatened with legal action.
I enjoyed and respected TE and its members for a long time before I found the courage to join and post my very amateur images. Now that I have got this far, I trust that all members – from the highly accomplished to enthusiastic apprentices – will take a practical, mutually supportive and collectively hard-nosed approach to these problems. Leaving TE and deleting galleries acknowledges that the unscrupulous have won and impoverishes the rest of us. I hope everyone understands and will heed the admonition about not throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
Warm regards,
Mary
