Photographer’s Note
One of the tea estates close to Newara Eliya in the hill country of Sri Lanka. Here we saw around the factory and learned about the tea harvesting and manufacturing process. We were then free to walk around the plantation. Unfortunately nobody was working on this day because it was the memorial for the one-year anniversary of the tsunami.

Jonathan
Good shot showing the cropped tea bushes and the use of cropping the entire picture to show only one colour works well.

Hi Jonathan,
The different lines as well as horizontals as vertical through the tea plantations make your picture very attractive. Dark green and light green make the photo great.
very well done!
Best regards,
John.

Good evening Jonathan,
Bad luck with the harvesters...I was hopping to see this kind of landscapes from this country, as I love them. And this one is a very good example. The graphic effect of the patterns on these hills are so nice! The colours and lighting are very good and those elegant trees spread all over the fields enhance the beautiful design of this image.
Very well done!

This is probably the most lush green that I've ever seen (and quite a change from your Afghanistan posts!). The light on the hills is very special, bright in some areas and dark in others, so more interesting than normal. Great work Jonathan!

Hi Jonathan, You have well captured the green tone in the picture. It is a wonderful view to see the dark blue gradually change to the light blue with the distance to your lens. A beautiful quiet rolling hill with the tea plant to well cover the land. A very well taken picture.

Hi Jonathan,
Your picture gives a feeling of the infinity of the plantation. Al small parts but huge as a hole.
Thanks and regards, Gerrit

A scene I remember well. I didn't get a shot of the tea plantations as good as this, so I'm jealous again. Calls for another trip I reckon. The patterns are well drawn out here, and you've managed to get a panoramic, high level view to bring out the terraces well. Good control of exposure and a lot of detail brought out here. No doubt you bought 1000 bags of tea. I still have mine from a year ago; going through it slowly!
Cheers

Hello Jonathan!
I guess it has already been said, and as your title fittingly puts it, the light on the green rolling terrain gives a very special effect, changing the green from near black to esmerald, which is very pleasant to watch in this lush and beuatiful scene.
Thanks and best regards,
Chris

Hi Jonathan - the light and shadowplay goes very well with the patterns in the teafields, it doesnt need any people to work the fields to make a fine photo but I'm intruiged by the bright bushes in the middle, they seem to blooming already though its not surprising given the tropical cimate.

The mottled light works so nicely here, Jonathan. I also love the textures found here in the landscape. Nice work!

I've never seen a tea plantation. Now I know how it looks like. You photo really serves the aim of "learning about the world through photography". The colours and geometry is a pleasure for the eye.

Looks like a model... The trees are funny, the multiple paths makes me feel like walking there... I just wish you have had colored sarees too...

Jonathan, j'aime la lumière qui vient caresser les plants, cela fait penser à une moquette bien drue. On dit que ça "accroche" bien la lumière. Il n'y a pas de ciel mais ça ne fait qu'accentuer l'effet recherché.
Belle photo !
