Photographer’s Note

The road through the eastern parish of St. Thomas is long and wearying -- potholed by storms, ravelled by fords and impromptu streams, washboarded by overloaded trucks carrying and often spilling sand and gravel and interrupted periodically by shoreline erosion and flooded rivers taking out bridges. Last Sunday's beautiful weather definitely helped but it was coming round a bend to see this glorious Poinciana that compensated for all the obstacles.

I'll never be able to travel to Jamaica to see the beauty of its Nature, but at least I can see it in photos :)
Incredible contrast of red and green. Very effective. Very well composed image. I like the softness and the slight blur!

Hi, Mary!
It is very unusual and exotic shot especially for me living in northern country. Such bright red trees are founded there only in autumn. You captured this tree excellently.

Beautiful picture from one of my favorite Caribbean Islands. I had the opportunity of spending 2 weeks in Jamaica in 1973 and also saw many of these beautiful flamboyant trees. TFS.

I like the almost panorama format of the picture with road curve strting in low left angle. very soft colours and this marvelous tree so well positionned in the composition.
