Photographer’s Note

Toda la gente que ha visitado Andorra la Vella durante sus vacaciones en verano o durante la temporada de esquí, conoce el caos del tráfico y la gente que abarrota sus calles. En esta foto tomada durante unas pequeñas vacaciones en Septiembre conseguí captar esta escena más tranquila, porque era un día laborable y había poca gente allí.
El lugar es la Plaza de la Rotonda, donde hace unos años había el puente que unía las dos orillas del río Valira, en Andorra la Vella, y que se remodeló con una cobertura que ha creado esta plaza. Éste era el punto más conflictivo para el tráfico en la ciudad, y ahora está reservado para los peatones.

La luz y la intensidad de los colores atrajeron mi atención, y con mi cámara puente intenté captarlos.

El WS es otra toma en un ángulo más cerrado, con la presencia de una mujer policía y un coche que pasaba por allí en aquel momento.

All the people who has visited Andorra la Vella during his vacations in summer or during the ski season, knows the chaos of the traffic and the people who overstocks its streets. In this photo taken during a few small vacations in September I managed to catch this calmer scene, because it was a working day and there were few people there.
The place is the Plaza of the Rotunda, where a few years ago there was the bridge that was joining both shores of the Valira river, in Andorra la Vella, and that was remodelled by a coverage that has created this square. This one was the most troubled point for the traffic in the city, and now it is reserved for the pedestrians.

The light and the intensity of the colors attracted my attention, and with my small bridge camera I tried to catch them.

The WS is another capture in a more closed angle, with the presence of a policewoman and a car that was passing there in that moment.

Hi Josep!
I like a lot your Andorra images with these typical old stone houses,and now the capital with architecture of the 21st century....What a change!!!!
A good shot with many fine details to view.Perfect sharpness overall and nice to see a few pedestrians.

Bonjour Josep,
les teintes sont magnifiques et j'allais dire que l'exposition était parfaite, avant d'avoir cu ce ciel où les nuages sont fort exposés. Des rues paradoxalement calmes , sans voitures.
Une bonne idée que des réserver des endroits aux piétons.

É interessante ver como a moderna arquitectura convive a paredes meias com a mais antiga e também, como as cidades agora têm tendência a mostrar mais e melhor as cores vivas da vida. Ainda bem que assim é.

Hola mi querido amigo Josep.
Veo que has cambiado de cámara en esta toma, en lugar de tu Olympus E-410 has usado la Sony Cybershot DSC H7, la que llamas "cámara puente" y quiero decirte que has conseguido unos magníficos colores y nitidez en esta foto, parece como si estuviera parado en la esquina disfrutando de tanta belleza. Muy bien captada con excelente encuadre y detalles, la inclusión de personas en este tipo de foto es siempre muy positiva. Tu WS es también una estupenda foto. Buen trabajo mi amigo.

Los colores, bien saturados, están increiblemente bellos! Por lo menos a esa hora parece una ciudad tranquila. Buena composición, incluyendo hasta las montañas alrededor de la ciudad. Buen trabajo!

Les couleurs de la cité sont étonnantes en avant de l'arrière plan plus sobre. La photo est gaie et dynamique. Une belle image de vie quotidienne urbaine. Excellente réalisation.

It is indeed a very colourful High Street and warrants the title you gave the image. There is every colour of the spectrum represented here. You have used the perspective of the road well in your composition, leading the eye up the street. I also like the closer view in the WS but prefer this wider image.

Je suis passé à Andora la Vella il y a plus de trente ans. Ton image bien composée me rappelle ce souvenir, merci. J'aime beaucoup les détails nombreux, variés et très bien captés et évidemment le décor des Pyrénées rappelé dans le fond de l'image.

J'ai remarqué dans ta photo complémentaire que même les policewomen, dans leur tenue vestimentaire, ne dépareillent pas avec cet environnement très coloré. Une photo intéressante et pleine de détails que l'oeil parcourt avec plaisir. Bien vu Josep.

Hola Josep, amazing the bright colors from all the signs both on the street and on the buildings. It almost seems like a work of partial desaturation. Very interesting capture and I have to say that the closer approach WS is no less interesting - the traffic police woman and the car makes a nice FG.

Para mí, aquí en una ciudad tan grande, es interesante ver esta ciudad pequeña, que tiene tanta "personalidad". Me gustan mucho los colores en tu foto, y la mezcla de arquitectura moderna, y también más traidicional. Parece una ciudad llena de vida.

c'est amusant, tous ces bâtiment pas si beaux à voir au cœur des Pyrénées se marient bien ensemble, avec quelques touches de couleurs surprenantes et intéressantes
la netteté est remarquable
par contre, le ciel n'est pas très bien capté

It's very entertaining to see pictures of places where I've been to and I can fully recognize. (: I also remember the big traffic you mention in your note, although it was workday..
The variety of colours is superb here and very pleasant to the eye. Despite the lack of the traffic in your photo the colours make it live. I also like the composition.

Like how you captured this side of Andorra, because we have seen the rural & the pastoral side of it from your pictures. Nice swanky buildings, good colours, with the everpresent hills in the backdrop. I am intrigued by the shop by the name of Kalidas. Kalidas or Kalidasa is considered to be one of the greatest poets and dramatists in Sanskrit. He lived in the 4th century in India. Is this shop owned by an Indian?

Must have been not a very warm day, just pleasant. Nice city scene with different colors an great DOF due to the road leading the viewer to the background of your picture. Perhaps a car in the foreground could have added additional attraction, but that is my personal view. Nice composition and well executed. Well done

Una buena captura del moderno centro de la ciudad, que ofrece un notable colorido, la imagen resulta sumamente atractiva, asi con poca gente, muy agradable. Hace muchos años que estube en Andorra camino de Francia pero recuerdo la ciudad con mucha gente y coches,la noche la hicimos en Ordino y guardo buen recuerdo del lugar.
Esta imagen me gusta por su gran cromatismo y dinamismo urbano, un buen encuadre.
