Photographer’s Note
‘Syros: Port of Ermoupolis’
The picture is taken on top of the hill of Ano Syros.
Close to this town (already founded in the 13th century), people coming from Chios and Psara founded a new town in 1820. This new town, Ermoupolis, grew rapidly.
In the late 19th century it was the leading industrial center and port in Greece.
From 1890 on Piraeus became the first port in the country.
Today Ermoupolis is still the hub of sea traffic between the Cycladic islands.

Ciao dear Paul,
a kaleidoscope of colors that magnificently opposes with the blue of the sea. The diagonals of the port and of the ship with its wake build in really pleasant way this beautiful composition. Perfect sharpness. Compliments!

From your lofty POV you have captured a wonderful pattern of horizontal stripes. Even the ship is playing the game as you can include the wake. The colours are lovely.

Hello Paul,
Amazing Aegean scene full with summer beauties and smells history. Great capture of port buildings and including busy, authentic Greek architecture at foreground. The giant blue vessel and red one says how popular the Ermoupolis while it's also easily recognizable from the cars on quay. Excellent quality of capture, congratulations. Have a nice new week.

Olá Paul, splendid view from above with another impressive presence of a big ship. It's perfectly placed in the composition to give continuation to the rhythm started with the two first layers of land. It's a pitty it doesn't have a more contrasted color with the sea but its trace behind also helps for the geometry of lines in compo. Good to see another piece of land on upper right corner completing the pattern.
