Photographer’s Note

The meaning of Sassi is "stones", because until 30-40 years the hinabitants of the town of Matera were stll living into real caverns excavated into the rocks, awaiting for the construction of new houses.
Today Sassi are no longer used, but it is allowed to visit and see the incredible way those people have been living for many centuries.
