Photographer’s Note
Picture taken in St. Ursola street in the very beautiful historical town Valletta, Malta’s capital.
Valletta is an open-air museum, Baroque in character with many palaces and churches .
Remarkable are the many steep streets with limestone buildings and their very special and unique balconies.
The stairs in the streets do not conform to normal dimensions since they were constructed to allow knights in their heavy armour to be able to climb the steps. The steps in Valletta certainly contribute towards the uniqueness of the city.
But for children it’s not always the most easy place to play football. And also in Malta football is absolutely the most popular sport.

Sure! Follow me!
Like the day as a kid when a friend would say something like "hey.. I know somewhere we can catch some BIG fish"... and the excitement was right there!! A place to kick a ball about, uninterrupted by being called home, from what seemed so far away but was really only the next road!
A nice little story here Paul - I like so much about this shot.

Hi Paul,
I don't understand from football issues but it is obvious that such stairs are not suitable for playing football but just right place for such a perspective!
Endless stairs leading to sky surrounded by colorful houses seems amazing. Little boys with ball and lady in background bring "life" to that stairs even though they were designed for knights. Boys with ball and stairs for knights... Contrast of years, contrast of needs.
Very nice capture, congrats

Olá Paul, good perspective of the steep street with a nice graphism from all the steps. If these steps were brand new, this view wouldn't have the same charm. There's some overexposed parts but I like the architectural details and the kids are an excellent bonus. May be I consider to crop a bit the foreground...

Hello Paul,
I like this good composition that the children with a football are coming down the stairs in the framing including an atmosphere of the town.
The children might stand out when burning the too bright part in the bottom right.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Bonjour Paul:
If this seems queun boy tells the other, what you put in the title.
An image with a strong compositional power, seen from your angle shot. I like the sequence of bleachers, as we moved through the entire scene inside depth
Maybe it takes to need some definition, but in the overall context, is a nice job. Good frame, beautiful shades

belle photo de ces escalier pris sous un bon POV.
Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté qui nous permet de bien voir les détails intéressant comme ces marches de pavé irrégulières, ces devanture de comerces.

Hello Paul,
this is such a beautiful scene! Perfect set up for this interaction between the 2 kids. the football is a universal symbol of sport/game so it is bound to touch everyone.
We recognize some important features of Malta. Like you said, there are the balconies, steep streets, football, but also the colors and the sun!! The sun...the light, it seems so different from anywhere else!
Your pictures tells a lot about this place and the life there. But it's not just that. It's also beautiful. Tremendously beautiful.
