Photographer’s Note

Some more walk about Södermalm.

I don't know if on TE there are any other photos of this street taken from this very POV... Well, in any case, this is my "summer version" :)

Fjällgatan - one of the most picturesque streets in Södermalm which is (in my humble opinion) is always a must for any visitor who comes to Stockholm - in any season, at any time of the day :)

Fjällgatan is situated above the docks of the Finland ferries and Slussen; it lays the city out at your feet with a great panorama over Gamla Stan, Djurgården and the island of Skeppsholmen.

I have never seen this street crowded. I don't know why. I have always seen it quiet and very friendly, at any time. Maybe there are days of time when there are many people (tourists, maybe?) there. But so far I consider it one of those places where time stands still and where you can relax and feel at home.

I have already posted a photo taken in Fjällgatan (just a few steps farther from this very place).

PP: I cropped a bit of the right side and sharpened (about 30% at 0.3px radius); minor lens distortion correction (straightening the left side a bit).

Hej Elena,
What immediately strikes me is the variety of architectural styles just on this single block. I guess that's part of the reason why I find Fjällgatan, and indeed many areas on Södermalm so charming: the diversity of a district that has grown and developed relatively slowly, leaving memories of every epoch of the last 300 years.

surely nobody and quiet,
those are my favorite, and
this sky is summer, the color in the shadow is summer, and whole atmosphere is summer.
a calm summer view in our minds like your this shot shows us the complex feeling of activity and fatigue, it is comfortable essence of the summer.
your walking about this street maybe filled with it.

Hi Elena,
What an attractive photo from Fjällgatan! It made me immediately think, that I have to return there in summer time. :-) The atmosphere of the street is really a lovely summer atmosphere in a silent city street. Many different kinds of architecture and many colours. A great POV and composition, good warm colours and excellent clarity. A beautiful one!

Hi, Elena.
Excellent in terms of perspective, lighting and color, it portrays what looks like a pretty interesting variety of architectural styles. Love the atmosphere that seems to permeate this street, warm a and yet very subdued. TFS!
As far as the rest goes, I'm back using the old format, it's like being in paradise if compared to the new version... Have a nice evening, I'll see you soon.

Hi Elena,
this image makes me think about cars! It is incredible how this technological achievement is dominating the impression of this lane although there is only a small number of them.
You have chosen an excellent POV to show the atmosphere of calmness under this superb sky. The light and the colors are also wonderful. It is a very pleasant impression except of the cars! TFS!
