Photographer’s Note
... at least these feelings (mentioned in the title) I read in their faces :) Maybe you can see something different?..
H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf and H.M. Queen Silvia on their way to Skansen on the Swedish national day, June 6.
This is a scanned photo from my "family album" and was not meant to be posted for reasons of poor quality (the camera which I used was not good - a Samsung one which I had borrowed from a friend), but I could not find any more approproate photo for posting on the Swedish national day.
So, I should say, this shot is more for information rather than for any assessment by fair critics :)
A really decisive moment, because I consider myself lucky to be there at that moment.
Much earlier I have already posted a photo (taken with a different, better, camera), so you can have a look at it, too.
Unfortunately, in both photos H.M. Queen Silvia's face is not seen: she turned away to greet the people standing at the road...
In the Workshop you can also see the royal children: Prince Carl Philip and Crown Princess Victoria, and also another shot of the procession.
The story of the shot:
I was just returning from Djurgården, and when I was near Djurgårdsbron I saw people standing along both sides of the road and on the bridge, and also there were several policemen.
I asked a policeman what's going on here, and he proudly said that the King and Queen of Sweden and their children would be coming here very soon, heading to Skansen.
I stayed there as I was very curious to see the procession. Finally I saw some guards riding on horses and then the carriages appeared.
They moved neither quickly, nor slowly, so those "spectators" who wanted to take photos could do it easily :) So did I. I managed to take a few photos. The Royal couple was as close to me as maybe 2-3 meters (as I was standing very close to the edge of the road).
---------------------------------------------------
PP work: minor noise reduction; levels adjustment; sharpening; cropping the right side (part of the horse).

Info:
June 6 became the Swedish national day in 1983 and was previously known as Swedish flag day.
It marks the coronation of Gustav Vasa in 1523 and the adoption of a new constitution in 1809.
But the Swedish Riksdag (parliament) only designated June 6 a public holiday in 2005 to encourage people to celebrate being Swedish.

dear Elena,
an interesting shot,
this concept and your title show us your stance to them well. maybe it is intellectual and objective.
in Japanese school, we learned about Gustav II Adolf in the history,
and also in Japan, the imperial family is thriving. of course in Russia they were killed.
we still need to think about the function of monarchy, especially that in people's deep mind.
anyway, you captured a nice moment of them.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Elena,
An interesting photo and just the right picture to show on our "National Day". There were a lot of discussions wether we needed this day, as a "red" day. Most people have no idea what the date means. There were also suggestions to make Midsummer Eve the "real" national day, as that is definitely a more important day to most Swedes. I fully agree with this.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hello my dear Elena
A very very precious Photo right ?
Soft color and framework are very nice, even though it is scanned. The scanned color strengthens more impressive on contrary, Good Job !
Thanks for sharing and best regards,

Hello Elena,
In spite of the light difficult to manage, you made a success of a superb, and royal stereotype. The attitudes, the colors, the nobility, are very well captured. A very beautiful image. Congratulations.
Have a nice sunday

Hi Elena,
Interesting composition to show the royalty family meeting their people at open air to celebrate the National Day, I like their traditional costumes, thanks for sharing.

Hello Elena, On Monday the 8th of June celebrated the Queens (Queen of England) birthday with a public holiday. It is not always on this date as they change it to the the nearest Monday. Not sure where it originated from because this day is not the actual birthday of this Queen. Here you missed the queen but have the king looking at the camera with a wry smile.
Excellent memories, good image & a very good note, very appropriate not only on this occasion but for TE.
Thanks
Regards
Santo

Hello Elena
Your love of everything Swedish is apparent. Just a pity you can not live there. Good close-up of this royal family.
Yesterday was our Queen's Birthday holiday - however she lives on the other side of the world and wasn't actually her birthday. Most people just regard it as a day off work. Tfs, Marlene

Bonne après-midi!
Marie Louise.
