The church is what remains, of the monastery, of Agios Georgios Nikoxilitis,surrounded by the ruins of the monk's quarters.It is about 3 kilometers east of the village of Drouseia.The Monastery was founded between the 9th and 10th century A.D.In 1821, the monks were all killed by Turks from the village of Terra.The cells were looted, the church was pillaged, and the Monastery was set on fire.After 1834,Christians from Drouseia rebuild the Church of the Monastery but it was destroyed by fire in the years 1923.After the new destruction,the church ,which is of the cemetary style was rebuilt.
