Yahya, PEACE BE UPON HIM: John the Baptist, Son of the Prophet Zakaria and Al-Yasaabat (Elizabeth), and the maternal cousin of Mariam (Mary), Mother of Isa (Jesus), peace be upon them. He was therefore a cousin of the Prophet Isa (Jesus), Son of Mariam (Mary). He was sent by GOD to prepare the way for the Prophet isa (Jesus). The Prophet Yahya was imprisoned, then later beheaded by Herod in order to prove his infatuation for a dancing girl (his niece). He was the man ever to be called Yahya. According to recorded history this structure represents Prophet John's holy place while he was on a journey and stoped here in a village in southern Lebanon called "Hanawai" where he was surrounded by the people started preaching and praying.

Since then it was marked as a holy site and many people go inside light candles and pray.
