Photographer’s Note

A late evening view of downtown Vancouver. Behind the buildings lay the waters and islands of the Strait of Georgia leading to the Pacific Ocean.

The photo was taken from the observation platform of the Vancouver Lookout, 130m above street level.
The Vancouver Lookout tops Harbour Centre, a towering complex that is home to 28 floors of offices, the downtown campus of Simon Fraser University, shops, a food fair and liquor store, and the Top of Vancouver Revolving Restaurant. American astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, opened the Vancouver Lookout in 1977.

Vancouver being called cubist! That's not an adjective I've commonly heard to describe the city, but from this particular perspective, I suppose you are right - most of the buildings do look quite cubical and bland. Nice photo though, and I like the dark clouds in the sky.

Hello Paul,

Very good title fitting well with the square shapes of all those buildings underlined by the lighted windows.
Without the noise in the shadows parts, this photo would have been perfect.
