I like this shot, which means more than it at first seems. I am not a big fan of this effect because it is rarely appropriate. In this case it feels right, the car was born in the age of B+W TV but it speaks of the true extravagance of the 50's era.

L'Oldsmobile 58 était tout un bolide avec une carosserie qui ressemblait au Buick de mème année. une voiture avec une puissance extra et un modèle qui pesait plus de 2 tonnes...et on pourvait faire virer les roues dessous sur une bonne longueur:) enfin bref; une voiture qui fête ses 50 ans....J'aime bien l'effet noir & blanc et couleurs de cette voiture de deux couleurs....Belle présentation...

50 années pour ce roi du chrome. L`arrière plan en noir et blanc semble la faire resortir du temps avec les arbres et nuages qui menace.

avec ce cliché tu me rappelles de beaux souvenirs de mon enfance quand je voyais arrivé un oncle avec sa grosse Oldsmobile ou un autre avec sa Ford ou encore mon père avec sa Buick, tous ces voitures avaient en commun leur grosseur et le chrome, a savoir lequel avait la bagnole qui brillait le plus.

Hi Denis,
The black and white sky makes a perfect symbolic backdrop for this display of gilded decay. All that chrome really shines in this presentation.
Excellent sharpness and details to this dinosaur.
The Oldsmobile went out of production in 2000 and GM might be scheduled to die soon. Oh how times change.

Hi Denis,

I have a vivid green monkey for this one. First the composition is really good, you chose a nice angle for the old one...and second the post-processing, desaturating the background was the right decision to make the subject to pop up in the frame. Great job indeed!

This one has a special charm, because of the PP work. It`s the right subject for such a treatment, while the photo has a synthetic feeling, no doubt that that`s what you were looking for. I also like all the details and focus on the subject.

L'action de laisser la couleur sur l'auto seulement donne du punch à la composition. Le sujet est bien cadré. L'image est claire et nette. Les couleurs sont rehaussées par la qualité de la lumière. Bonne journée.

Hi Denis,
I don't know if you gave a help on that in PP, but it's amazing how the painting and chrome looks so well preserved. You made a great compo and a clever PP, either technically or aesthetically. It's a very fine image, I bet that many teenagers and owners of "retro" bars would be glad to have such a photo hanging on their walls.

You're right. This is the King of chrome ... and the Reds :-)
A beautiful car and the beautiful photograph of this car :-) I like it.
I don't realise that that car may have 305 horsepower. And what about fuel consumption ? Is that huge too ?

Superb angle and superb job in PP. Totally appropriate and to the great benefit of the picture. This is a GREAT muscle car, it reminds me a lot of the 1958 Plymouth Fury, such as the one featured in John Carpenter's movie "Christine". Perfect presentation, TFS!

Cette décoloration partielle me rappelle le film Sin City (ou la BD). Très bon travail artistique qui met en valeur le sujet principal. J'aime bien aussi le point de vu bas et la cadrage serré qui rendent le véhicule encore plus imposant.
