This image corresponds to the Museum of Religious Art, which together with the chapel of the Virgin Of The Remedios and the Chapel of Our Lady of Letrán, comprising the religious complex of La Merced in the city of Cali.

Cali was born in the year 1536 by Sebastian de Belalcazar initially north of its present position, but directed the captain Miguel Muñoz place to relocate the city today, where the chaplain Fray Santos de Añasco a mass celebrated in the place occupied today by this complex.

This monastery was inhabited by monks Mercedarios until 1813, when it was headquarters of the troops of General Mosquera and subsequently passed into the hands of the nuns Agustinas Recoletas.

It was declared a National Monument in February 1975.

It should be noted that these buildings were made of stone, bricks made from clay and glued on the basis of lime, eggshells and the effort and blood of slaves and animals.
