Photographer’s Note
For 100 years ago it was almost a rule – if teen houses was close together, one of them was a grocery – I can remember a lot of them my own childhood some 40 years ago – but now they all closed down – expect this one and a few other.
B. Thomsen a nice old lady who lived of her store, for some 50 years. The grocery can be found on the road between Odense and Svendborg (Two major cities on Fyn) and most costumers are drives that need a coke and a smoke – but she does have flour, milk and ice-cream.
I got inspired to post this shot after seeing the photos of Richard – showing some fine boutiques of Paris – Please take a look at the store as well
Lilian Thomsen died 19/5-2009 age 80.

A excellent daily life picture, Jeppe, a pity for ourselves the age, but the small shops are disappeared. I find this photograph splendid, everything sharp and clear. The smile on the face of old lady is excellent and enjoy of her job. Thanks for posting.

Yes, those sympathetic neigborhood stores have gone in favor of the mega-markets outside the cities - if I translate the German term for them into English they would be called "Aunt Emma's shops" which I guess is a tribute to the "familiar" atmosphere they used to offer. This is well conveyed in your shot, Jeppe, with the sympathetic Ms Thomsen seen amidst her "realm". Great to see the outside view in the WS, thanks.

She looks like she was designed as part of the fixtures and fittings. Great expression you've caught here. Yes, not many shops like this left, especially in Europe. Thanks for the tribute, but my shots were in St. Omer, not Paris.

A great life shot, Jeppe. Well composed. I like the way you captured the shop owner. I might have cropped the top of the photo - from the top of the wine bottles - because I feel the light distracts up from focusing on the lady. Well seen. Your shot of the storefront really helps to set the scene.

Nice daily life Jeppe, great to see this smiling lady. I think I would have cropped to remove the light, for the rest it is excellent presentation, Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jeppe
A good daily life shot. It looks like alchohol is popular in Denmark, as well as Australia. Perhaps the coke is for the scotch or rum? Well managed lighting. Did you use a filter for the fluorescent light? If not, the pp work is excellent. I also like the diagonal composition. Well done!

Very nice. Good sharpness despite it being shot indoor. The colors compliment the friendly face of the owner.

Yes, there are less and less grocery in Europe but I saw a lot during my trip in Mexico... Nice shot of this old lady who looks like to be proud of his diploma! (but I don't know of what!)
Nice colors too... Bravo, Jeppe!

What a good idea to take a photo in your local grocery, Jeppe. And this is of course something we know very well as Danes. But I think it is interesting to show that it still exists in a world of super- and hypermarkets

You know well how to handle these shots like we are standing there in the shop with you, all so clear and sharp as we could straight take it up.
So I took a look outside too, rather small this shop unexpected. Well done Jeppe.

Hello Jeppe.
It is a shame about these stores, the intimacy was quite nice. It is a well done shot of such a place, showing much of the same items that appear in these stores around the world.
Thanks for sharing,
Chris
