Photographer’s Note

Eddystone Rock rises from the waters of Misty Fjords National Monument east of Revillagiggedo Island in the Alexander Archipelago of SE Alaska. This unique island is the remnant of an extinct volcano.

Welcome to TE community. Your post entry here of this lovely landscape scenery of island out of the water is a nice beginning to your sharing of photography from Alaska. Very nicely composed view of such a summer scene with snow cap mountains. This view reminds me of the 'Island in the Stream' and the phrase No Man is an Island.

I like the blue theme punctuated by the green.

Good work. I hope you have more to share.

A nice small island rising with its greens among a much colder environment, good overall impression but watch out your PP, a halo is visible over the edges of the trees on the island.

Dear Judy,

Interesting, very interesting and i would love to shoot such a place in perfect light. The little island in front, those snow peaks in the back...works pretty good don't you think. So many places to see, so many places to visit. One day i have to go to Alaska, but i think it will be the Denali area...so i will doubt if i will ever make it tho this wonderful location....

Your forte really is landscapes isn't it? Also this one is a perfect composition and execution. In particular the blues-white background makes the rock even more special.

From the thumbnail the rock appeared like a castle emerging from the water with the backdrop of the snowcapped mountains. I was wondering about the strange shape of the outcrop, before reading your note. How wonderful this would look in soft like, I would just like to think! Thanks for sharing pictures from Alaska, an US state I'm not too familiar with. good work!

Hi Judy. I don’t think we passed this little isle on our SE Alaskan cruise but did pass many other similar. Great photo, the isle is separated well from the BG by colour and contrast making it stand out in a 3D feel. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
