stalls of Exeter cathedral Photo

Photographer’s Note

Next picture from St.Peter's cathedral in Exeter: a view towards the main nave through stalls. On the left you can see more details of organ than visible on yesterday’s post , where you can also find more info about the place.
The cathedral is a fine piece of masterwork in almost every kind of art. It brings a respect for the architects and artist who brought it to this shape, as well as for the poeple responsible for maintaining its beauty throughout ages.
Again I used a bench a temporary support insead of a tripod.

Hi Marek,
Your photo adds to that art, really strong lines, sharpe, loads of depth and plenty of light and shadow. I'd have moved the hymn books as they detract from the feeling of perspective pulling the eye in from the left of the photo. Really nice shot though.

Great hues of brown and beiges, with the choir books just adding enough accent to make this a very effective capture! The shine on the wood is wonderful, as is the stone casements on the window bottoms. Organ pipes look almost to be pewter. Don't like those lights, but that has nothing to do with your shot. Very peaceful, rich looking, harmonious photo. I like it very much!

I like very much your composition and point of view. Everything is in brown and in subdued colors except the yellow and green books on the left hand corner. Those are the only items that do not seem to belong and it distracts. Have you tried this in B&W?

The ritme with perspective make the shot here, without the books I think it got less life in it, maybe beter placement could improve it a tiny bit...
