Photographer’s Note
A view from the beach of Ashdod.
---------------------------------
Ashdod a city on the Mediterranean Sea. It is Israel's leading port after Haifa. Construction is Ashdod's main industry; its manufactures include synthetic fibers, woolen yarn, and knitted goods. Nearby is the site of ancient Ashdod, which was settled as early as the Bronze Age. Conquered by the Philistines in the 12th cent. B.C., it became an important city of the Philistine Pentapolis and a center for the worship of Dagon. The city was later ruled by Judah, Egypt, and Assyria. The Jews of Ashdod had been considered idolatrous by other Jews since the time of the return to Jerusalem (6th cent. B.C.), but they were cleansed by Judas Maccabeus in 163 B.C. Jonathan, the brother of Judas Maccabeus, took the city in 148 B.C. and destroyed the temple of Dagon. Ashdod was revived by the Romans and was an early Christian center. The first modern Israeli settlement in Ashdod was made in 1955, and in 1965 the deepwater port was completed

A very creative composition, Yitzhak, with an interesting note to accompany it. Well framed and great depth of field. The ship on the horizon looks quite impressive and I think that the beautiful green of the water creates its own 4th layer of colour. Well done.

This looks exactly like I would have composed it too, Itzik, with a good use of a foreground element (I would probably have gone for a deep DOF but it works equally fine the way you did it). Nice colors and the way in which the elements are arranged in the frame adds to the sense of depth.

hi yitzhak, this is quite a bit of a hostory written in your note, i like it a lot as i am fascinated by the middle east history (bernard lewis is my favorite historian);
nice 3 plans but personaly i'd resign from one "layer", preferably the ship;
anyhow - good compo;
nice evening, j.

Rust, I see rust, back to your earlier addiction? ;-)
In your note, I recognize all data and names from the bible, the name 'ashdod' immediately rang a bell. Didn't know that it was on the coast, though.
Nice focus, Itzik, the two people in the shot are essential, and the big boat in the background is there to confirm your note.
Thabks for this lovely sea picture, would like to be there RIGHT now!

Hi Yitzhak,
nice presentation of the beach of Ashdod. Obviously there is a lot of history behind this place and you have narrated that very well.

This is a very charming, unique, and interesting photo, Yitzhak. I love the depth of field here, and the addition of the humans doesn't bother me for some reason. Very nice work!

Hi Yitzhak
I like the sharply in focus seahorse which contrasts nicely with the o.o.f. ship on the horizon. Good color & sharpness.

Very original composition. I like the "big" seahorse (correct name?) in the front wich is in realily a very small animal against the background with that giant ship. Good balance in the picture and good elements.

A sea horse in the foreground which is superimposed on the beach and especially a sea of a seizing green. Original and successful.

Nice photo. Only the beach... poor; only the "caballito de mar" (is how we say in Spain that little animal)... also poor.
But you has done a nice composition with both.
Well done.

A funny and rich compo : the hippocampus, the guys, the boat, the colors... All the details are very important and create a very beautiful equilibrium.
Well composed.
