Photographer’s Note
Back down the Belgrave Road in Leicester this afternoon. After seeing what kaj has done with the terraces here I thought I'd try the subject myself. Always liked these buildings, and nice to see them all restored. Some might say this would be better in B&W, but I like the colour of the bricks.

Hallo Richard!
This is an interesting picture of these row houses with a lot of details. I like very much this bush in the middle, which attenuates all these stones...
Greetings from Germany!

Hi Richard,
You didn't waste any time with this one! John and I perservered after you left today and we stalked a few more bars...this one came out quite well, however, I just wish my monitor were larger so I could see the whole picture without scrolling. I guess shooting on auto was a good thing here, as the exposure is good...I would probably have messed this one up on my (not so smart manual mode!)
I would quite liked a closer crop on the left...I don't think the building at the back really adds much - it would be nice if we could see that it was an industrial building, as we were discussing today, but as it stands, it seems a little cluttered...
anyhow, toodle-pip! I have been awake for far too many hours now....

A nice "rhythm" found in the brick and window patterns of this array of houses, Richard. Some of the less frequent elements like the satellite dishes are also interesting, and it's important and fun to have the slightly bewildered-looking person in the frame, too.

Yes, quintessential, Northan, English working class suburban architecture.( I can smell the curry and chips) Replace the lady with a man in a cloth cap and a whippet, clone out Mr maxwells environmental achne and it could be 90 years ago.Yes, the brick red is nice and the colour of the woman's dress keeps it within a broad monotone range, which is pleasing. It puts me in mind of Stevie Smith and her Avondale Road. Just another way of recording suburban English life.

Hi Richard
a strong perspective view with the lady in front at right to see thes sober social houses. A crop on top was maybe possible but the again you lose the suggestion of the factory as those houses were mostly build near to the factory, I suppose. A sunny view well saturated, contrast and perfect sharp.

how come i missed this one?
it's a cool image, richard - i love the way you used repetitions, excellent light, and the emptyness of the street to focus on the lonely woman;
i just wonder if a tighter crop on the left side wouldnt be a bit better?
best wishes, j.

Hi richard
I like this presentation of the brick houses. Some tele I think to have the 'tight' setting in the compo. Good use of the foreground person.

Hello Richard,
it looks like a typical UK's street with tarrace. Good that you've captured this lady, without would be boring. good work because of godd colours, well done.

Hi Richard,
for some reason, this photo does'nt really strike a chord ... personally I would have preferred to include less of the buildings on left to make it more abstract, or i could have considered adding more of the buildings on the left .... this is something like inbetween.
but still the inclusion of this lady getting out of the house is what makes this photo a good take in my eyes.
cheers to that ... sarju
PS: One day I would like to see the photo of telephone poles from midlands ... when I visited that place, I found them very interesting ... you know those poles that have the wires going out on all the sides to different houses ... i hope you will know what I mean. it was a pleasure visiting your gallery .. nice ideas i got .. thanks
