Photographer’s Note
Svendborg is the second largest town on the island funen (fyn) and last year (2003) could it celebrate its 750 years birthday, the “party” lasted almost half a year and ended with a huge firework.
One of the events during the celebration was a performance where a group of sculptors got each sandstone and a week to create an artwork. Too bad I didn’t get pictures of this and I neither know the name of the artist – but I like he’s work – a self-portrait of his right hand?
As usual couldn’t I decide which one to post – so I post the other as ws – please let me which one the best?
It was my plan to come back on a sunny day to take a better photo, but when I did was it moved.
Guess I can find at a new sight - whereever it may be.

I like this but like the other better, because of the position of the fingers from the other angle looks more 'real', and attractive to me. The texture is amazing and the streaks of the rusty looking side are very attractive.

Hi jeppe,I like this picture very much because of it's information that I can see a perpormance art there!
I think that's the first imoprtant thing about that and it has not very strong composition!

Jeppe, this time I like the WS version much better. And unfortunately I can't do a WS to a WS so I will have to tell you what I would have done differently. I would have cropped more of the top of both versions, and I would definitely have left the "foot" of the hand (sokkelen) in. A sculpture is like a person, I think: Either you make a portait, a breast shot or the whole person; amputating just the feet seems a shame. But it is a lovely sculpture.

Very unusual sculpture Jeppe! The composition made out of lines, colours and textures is lovely, as well as the light in it. Is this a window in the middle, behind the hand? It makes a nice pattern up the picture and gives hight. And BTW, I like this version more than the WS one..:-) Very well seen and captured!

The other view shows the hand's postion better, but this one has better balance due to a more attractive backgound. The colors of the sandstone go well with the environment, but I can't help wondering why the sculptor chose this form for this piece of stone. Nice shot.

Good composition, Jeppe. The texture of the sandstone is great. I like the way the colours of the sculpture blend in with the background, and even with the reflection in the window. I also like the wide range of geometric shapes throughout the photo. Good note. Well done.

A very nice shot, Jeppe. I like the colors of the texture of this stone. I saw the other shot and I'm not sure. The other one is from a higher angle and the hand is very well seen, but there is too much ground. This one shows less ground but the hand is hard to recognize. i would suggest to use a much lower nagle, so you can shaw the whole hand (and that we can see that this is a hand) with less ground and less wall at the background. Maybe also a shallow DOF will be more effective. Anyway, I like both shot, and I recommend that you'll try a third one..
Well done.

This is an interesting composition. If you went further low in your angle, the ground won't be seen so it will be more interesting. Since your foreground is the outstretched hand, a shallow DOF will add drama to it. Just my opinion...as it is, it is already good because of those many patterns.

Very strange sculpture, but I like it. It sticks out like a sore thumb, I like the colours of this too, the darker orange lines does it for me. I hate the double jointed twist in the thumb because only a few of my friends can do that and it kind of hurts whn one sees it.
Well, nice capture

Nice picture Jeppe. I like this view of this hand fully made of curves, and the background that is so geometric.
Well done.

Photographing art is an odd prospect, because you are interpreting someone else's art work through art of your own. This is a good example of how it is done effectively. Very nice work, and effective point of view.

Interesting sculpture Jeppe, took a time to see the hand - as for so much the WS is better inthe sense of seeing the hand at once..
Nice town Svnedborg..
