Photographer’s Note

In this third picture I like to show you not the industrial process itself but the design part of it: industrial design.
Depicted here is a part of the top-deck of one of the large tourist & excursion ships of the Spido, the company which specialises in harbour sight seeing tours. It’s one of the major tourist attractions of Rotterdam. The ships is lying at its berth very close to the Erasmus bridge (de Zwaan) waiting for its next departure. From the bridge you have an excellent top down view on the modern Spido fleet. For dare devil fare dodgers it‘s a great opportunity ;-)
On a request from Georges I added a French translation.

Dans le troisieme image, j'aime de ne vous montrer pas le procédé industriel lui-même mais la partie de conception d'il: l'esthétique industrielle. Peint voici une partie du premier-pont d'un des grand bateaux touristique du Spido, la compagnie qui se spécialisent dans les tournées de vue de port . C'est une des attractions de touriste majeures de Rotterdam. Les bateaux couchent à ses base très proche au pont d'Erasme (de Zwaan), attender son départ prochain. Du pont vous avez une excellent vue sur la flotte moderne de Spido en bas. Pour les roublards de tarif c'est une grande occasion; -)
Sur une demande de George j'ai ajouté une traduction française.

I like the contrast between the busy pattern of chairs and the large curve of the railing. But I would like to see it cleaner, there's a lot happening around the edges that in my opinion doesn't really help the composition. I tried to do a workshop.

Magnifique cadrage. Lorsque l'on regarde le cadre noir du bas, on le trouve courbé, tellement la coque est proche! Merci pour la notice en français et bravo!

Great graphism in this shot, Bert! I like how the chairs fill two thirds of the semi-circle, and they also cast some nice shadows on the deck. The tight crop around the leading lines of the ship is well done. Plus, the b&w conversion was well chosen for this particular motive, as the full focus of the viewer goes to the lines and patterns. Very good!

Bert, the B&W works so well here, i like you angle and the graphic work achieved here, your picture came out very interesting for an otherwise mundane object. I also liked you cropped version - it's even more graphic & arty. Well done

Very nice graphic image. The point of view is very good and the tight cropping is great. It focuses on the functional design nicely. Again it makes me think of Scheeler. I really like the color version, too. I'm a little more toward that version mainly because the colors are so great and I love good color. But this does bring out the graphic functionalism of the ship a bit more. Great job, Bert.

Wow! Superb graphic realisation Bert, I like it a lot. Excellent choice to convert it to B&W, that brings the best out of these patterns. Great POV here, with a tight crop, now the shape fits tight into the frame, centered. Excellent stuff. The contrast is very good as well as perfect sharpness, two essential parameters of a such graphic & design spot. Excellent shot Bert. Well seen, framed and rendered.

Hee Bert, this is better than the original! You got to tell Spido. ;-) Nice graphism here, at first it's even hard to understand what is. Looks like an upside down hat with some stuff in it. I love the crop, although I alos like Torben's.

gotta tell you, first look at the thumbnail, I told you took a pic of some new crazy nokia phone or industrial control panel with a lot of buttons! LOL

The Image - I like the capture of the whole semicircular fantail, with the folding chairs neatly arranged. The BW is a good choice as it syncs pretty well with the stainless steel finish of the chairs and railings etc

Georges zal tevreden zijn voor de vertaling in het frans. Mooie zitjes Bert, de semetri in deze foto is mooi, net rustig gevoel om mee te varen, alleen een beetje goed weer. het ziet er allemaal netjes uit.

wow! super photo, bert, once again!
i would, however, sacrifice that last row of chairs for te sake of the composition and have it more simple, otherwise, a splendid shot.
