Mabul island Photo

Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken on Malaysian island of Mabul, near Semporna in eastern Borneo. Mabul is known mailny from being the closes island to the world famous dive sites around Sipadan island. Since there is no accommodation on Sipadan, Mabul offers the closest places to stay (around 30 minutes by speedboat). There are two expensive resorts (one of them having bungalows on stilts) and one very decent budget place, located in quite large Sea Bajau village (that's where we stayed). Mabul island offers some beautiful beaches, the village is interesting in itself, but what really is the highlight is the proximity of Sipadan. Believe me, Sipadan really is one of the best diving and snorkelling destinations of the world.

wonderful shot. *sigh* I wish it was summer again. I really miss the sun, sea... but at least I can have them here on your image.

Hi Michal,
since we have the first snow here in Sofia and also -10 degrees, this picture seems like real paradise for me. Of course you can't avoid the cliche in situation like this, but cliche with blue see and palm on the beach is more than desired now, in this cold winter.
Good picture anyway, I like the most this shadows on the sand.

This is an excellent shot, where everything is very well done. And by everything I mean the composition, the light, the sharpness and the colours. Of course, the island looks like a piece of paradise. Well done.

takich zdjec widzialem wiele, na wielu roznych tapetach komputerow ale cos jest w tych fotkach - cos takeigo czego u nas brak - piekne palemki, krystalicznie czysta woda i bardzo ciekawa zabudowa..
Pod wzgledem kompozycyjnym i kolorystycznym idealnie,
na tapete sie nadaje,

Hey... Mabul...always a joy to remind Mabul & Sipadan. Although, it's funny to see Mabul as an attractive beach resort like in your photo, taken from SMART beach (the 3rd expensive resort on Mabul on top of SWV and Borneo divers -my favorite-).

Looks there are no more bajau boats around there were always plenty anchored near the pier twice I went.

Witaj Michale. Jestem wyjaykowo czuly na piekno przyrody i sam
bardzo lubie robic takie zdjecia. Jak popatrze na ta czysta
krystalicznie wode to cos mi sie robi. Bardzo ladne zdjecie.
